Les Gets Snow conditions

At this time of year our office in Scotland gets a lot of questions on the snow conditions in Les Gets. This morning the depth on the upper slopes is 190cm and snow at the top of the Portes du Soleil ski area has a depth of 260cm. There is still 65cm of snow at resort level and remember you can ski to the door of the Christiania in Les Gets.

The Piste Bashing team is doing a wonderful job keeping the pistes in perfect condition –nice and smooth. Now all the half term weeks are over the slopes are back to their normal peaceful selves with barely a lift queue to be seen.

The sun here is very enjoyable especially at lunch times sitting out in the sun with a good tartiflette! The bowl was in fantastic form yesterday and we all enjoyed the views of Mont Blanc from the top of the Rosta lift and the Eglantine red run down was a real buzz!

With light winds, plenty of sunshine and cold temperatures at night this really is a perfect week to be skiing. The wonderfully clear weather will also provide us with some fantastic views of the mountains around us with the Point Percé and the Mont Blanc range looking particularly spectacular.

This week there are a lot of events happening in Les Gets, with a choice of  live street music, chocolate workshops , the weekly ice party, ESF’s amazing torch lit descent (with Vin Chaud and Hot Chocolate provided!), the morning market on Thursday and even a Tea Dance!!!

Next week we have the Ebouelle Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Contest with art and live music concerts on the 21st and Rock the Pistes Festival from the 24th to the 28th. We are definitely having a lot of fun here both on the slopes and après!

Les Gets Weather

It's certainly getting warmer in Les Gets this week, with freeze, thaw conditions every day. While its currently 4 degree in the village, its forecast to drop to -11 tonight so its still very much the winter season.

Piste conditions remain very good and you certainly need to remember to bring your sun screen if your coming to Les Gets in the next few days.

Half term snow conditions

As most of our half term guests have arrived at the Hotel Christiania many are commenting on how cold it is in Les Gets today.

The temperature remains at a day time high of -13 in resort and -20 at the top of the mountain.

We still have 85cm of snow outside the door of the hotel and everyone should have a good weeks skiing.

Current snow conditions in Les Gets

Conditions remain good in Les Gets and at present we have 80cm of snow at village level of 1172m , 160cm of snow at the mid station of 1500 and 200cm of snow at the top of the mountain at 1800m

The weather today is not too cold with the temperature in resort only being -1 and its only -4 at the top station today.

The snow is coming

If the weather forecasts are correct there should be snow all over the Alps this weekend.

Just in time for the arrival of most of our staff and before the hotel opens for the season on the 9th of December.
